We all know that fruits and vegetables are beneficial to our overall health. Dr. Michael Mosley, a nutrition specialist, has recommended that skipping particular fruits may aid weight loss – here’s everything you need to know about the common fruit you should avoid.
Fruits and veggies provide our bodies with many critical nutrients and should be a staple in everyone’s diet.
In fact, the CDC recommends that adults consume at least five servings of various fruits and vegetables each day.
People who consume at least five portions of fruits and vegetables each day have a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, and several malignancies, according to research.
However, according to diet expert Dr. Michael Mosley, there are specific fruits that you should eat less of if you’re trying to lose weight.
“What you eat has a profound effect on your mental health, and therefore on your energy levels. Once you’ve started the virtuous circle, then all the other things become much easier. ”
Which fruits should we avoid if we wish to slim down?
According to the expert, “fruit is great if you’re healthy but if you have weight to lose, then switching to less sugary fruits like apples and berries might be wise.”
He claims that mangoes have a higher natural sugar content than other fruits such as grapes, raspberries, or avocado.
Dr. Michael has also recommended limiting our consumption of melons and pineapples because they are high in sugar. Instead, choose fruits that have less sugar, such as berries.
“One average-sized mango contains 45 grams of sugar. To put that in comparison with other fruits, one cup of grapes has 23 grams, a cup of raspberries has five grams, while a whole avocado contains 1.33 grams of sugar. ”
He went on to say that while young and thin people can consume sugary fruits like mangoes and bananas, those seeking to lose weight should avoid them.
What else should we avoid?
We should avoid anything that “you can buy at a service station,” according to Dr. Mosley.
“If it’s heavily marketed, in bright packaging and full of fat, sugar and salt, it will likely affect our health and mood – and not for the better.”
He recommends that we avoid buying appetizing foods such as biscuits or chips, and that we throw them out if we have any in our cupboards.
Instead, he suggests that we stock our fridge and cupboards with fresh, healthy foods, as well as canned and frozen fish, veggies, and legumes.
“Meal replacement shakes also have their place in moderation if you’re particularly busy or traveling frequently.”
While many people go for fruit as a snack, Mosley recommends unsalted almonds or veggies instead.
