Tommy Greally wins Donegal ETB President’s Prize in Murvagh

Last week he returned to the Donegal ETB Golf Society after a short winter break. The Christmas Eve was well spent on a hot and cold morning at the old Donegal Golf Club in Murvagh.

With Bluestacks covered in snow that offers an intriguing look, the event was pre-arranged for the first ‘Bigs’ of the year- Presidential Award. The President of the Society this year is the Chairman of the Donegal ETB, Cllr Barry Sweeny.

Another good comeback for the 27 members was the day and the whole clap of hands clapped back in body temperature, was the Golfer of the Year last year, the winner Tommy Greally. Tommy’s success of 40pts was a very good return on difficult situations at times. He was closely followed, shot back, by current Golfer of the Year leader Paddy McDaid with another excellent 39pts score.

Last year’s Society captain, Deirdre O’Toole finished third at 35pts, just outscoring Donegal Sports Partnership teammate Myles Sweeney who finished fourth with a 34pts best finish. The Retired Members’ Award was won by the Society’s Captain, Jim McGlynn, also at 34pts – the argument is that there is a rumor that our wise Captain may not always be based on his game! Eliminating the prize and award for Group IV was a new member, Kevin McDevitt with 34pts. Good luck to Kevin.
