Spain hits 8 million COVID-19 cases

Spain has 8 million cases of COVID-19 cases since the outbreak began, the Spanish Ministry of Health announced on Friday, Events mention reports Xinhua.

The ministry confirmed 162,508 people living with HIV from 2pm (4pm GMT) Thursday to 2pm, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus since the outbreak reached 8,093,036.

The country reported 6 million cases on December 28, 2021 and 7 million on January 8.

On Friday, the ministry said another 139 had died, bringing the total death toll to 90,759. So far, the 14-day average increased from 35.83 to 3,192.46.

The Spanish Ministry of Education released a report on Friday showing that 102,233 non-university students and 19,335 teachers are currently isolated or tested for COVID-19.

The report was published five days after the children returned to school after the Christmas holidays, although not all illnesses will have been diagnosed by then.
