Passengers Killed, Coast Guard Rescues Survivors after Boast Capsizes near Puerto Rico

The US Coast Guard said it recovered the bodies of 11 people and rescued 38 survivors after a boat capsized off Desecheo Island, Puerto Rico, on May 12. In a press release, the Coast Guard said the vessel capsized in the Mona Passage, approximately 10 nautical miles north of Desecheo Island, Puerto Rico. Of the 38 survivors, 36 are from Haiti and two are from the Dominican Republic. Eight people remain hospitalized.
