Man trying to cross Channel dies in sub-zero conditions after going overboard

A murder investigation is underway in France after a migrant died in a zero point while trying to cross the English Channel.

A Sudanese man was released from a coma after drowning Friday morning as he and others set out for the UK.

At the age of 20, he was pronounced dead at the scene after being repatriated by French rescue teams.

The rescued refugees were suffering from hypothermia

Thirty-two people were rescued in Berck, near Calais, suffering from hypothermia, authorities said.

A government spokesman in Boulogne-sur-Mer said a murder investigation had been opened.

The death was announced less than two months later at least 27 people died when their boat sank off the coast of France.

More than 450 people have already embarked on a life-threatening journey in small boats in 2022.

In UK waters on Friday, several Border Force vessels were operating off the coast of Kent.

About 35 people were seen being brought ashore by evacuation workers.

On Thursday, at least 271 people in 10 small boats arrived in England.

Mike Adamson, head of the British Red Cross, said “there are no easy answers” to the problem.

He added: “But we urge the government to reconsider its plans to make the UK’s survival strategy difficult to achieve.

“This should start with the ambitious goal of new security measures and a commitment to rehabilitating 10,000 people a year.”

Steve Valdez-Symonds, chief of refugee and refugee in the UK at Amnesty International in the UK, said the recent death was “unbearable due to the refusal of governments across all parts of the Channel to address the needs and rights of people forced to try this.
