How to Upgrade the Huawei Matebook 14 laptop with WiFi 6 / 6E using the Intel AX210 M.2 Module

Sharing is caring!

It is worthwhile to reread my first section WiFi 6E router soon. Most newer laptops are compatible with WiFi 6E, but older models have WiFi 6 or WiFi 5.

I have already upgraded my old Dell XPS 15 but I do not like to use it now, so to prepare for a review, I upgraded Huawei Matebook 14. I thought this method was a good idea (if you are an expert / computer), but my PR asked me a few questions about this, so I thought I would write a course. It’s simple.

This handbook works just like most laptops. However, some laptops have difficulty finding components, I have not been able to upgrade mine easily Huawei Matebook 13 (I think the women’s board has been turned on). When you open the back of the laptop, you should know if it is easy to repair.

Intel AX210 WiFi 6E M.2 Module

Currently, there are two sections available for WiFi 6E, and Intel AX210 and the Killer AX1650. In the past, Killer used to upgrade their hardware, but it has been reported that the AX1650 is similar to the Intel model.

The Intel AX210 is sold on Amazon through a wide range of brands at random. These are the ones that enter the legal component because Intel does not sell this to consumers.

You want especially the one with the AX210 in name, it should also say things like WiFi 6E and 6GHz.

The model I bought is from the Wise Tiger and costs £ 36.

The older AX200 is still available, and has 2.4Ghz / 5Ghz WiFi 6 (not 6E). It costs almost the same price, so there is no need to buy, even if you do not have a fast system to use expensive WiFi 6E devices.

Download drivers before installing the module!

The Intel AX210 has been out for some time now, and I mistakenly thought that Windows could detect these new devices and have its own drivers. So I was left without any connection when I restarted my laptop, I had to remove the Ethernet adapter to repair it.

It is best to lower the drivers first. You can download drivers directly from Intel here.

It would be easy to set this up before installing the hardware, obviously I didn’t after that.

Unlocking the Huawei Matebook 14 laptop

Matebook uses electronic irritants. With either Torx or Pozidrive, you’ll need one of the cheapest deals from Amazon. With good money, I use mine all the time.

There are 6 small hooks on the front and side, followed by 4 long hooks at the back. They are small, put in a container or something, so you do not lose them.

Removing the back panel is very difficult. I used small plastic bags from my screwdriver, starting at the back where the hinge lighting seems to be the easiest way.

With the back panel, the existing WiFi 5 component looks instantly and easily accessible. Running NVMe is also an easy upgrade if you want to do two things at once.

The head has two antenna controls on it, which are cut and inserted small buttons. This comes out easy, but you have to keep in mind the type that goes (though I’m not sure if it makes a big difference).

The module is powered by a small Philips chip. Remove it, and the section should be up and you can easily remove it.

Then just replace the Intel AX210 with a flash.

When I reassembled the tiny antennae, it was very difficult, I found that tweezers can be very useful to set them up. It requires a bit of force for the push button to be cut in place, I have to use the end of my nail to give enough to feel a little bit. If you do not click this button you may have problems.

Once you do this, you can reconnect the back panel, which is much easier than removing it, and replace everything in its place.

When you turn it on, you should be informed that your laptop now has WiFi 6. If you have not installed the drivers, then it will display a small circle and no connection is available.

With this becoming the new WiFi component, the laptop will forget all your cached links.

Get WiFi 6E 6Ghz to work

There should be nothing you need to do. However, you can see twice that Windows can use 6Ghz.

  • Go to Network Connections (you can write it in Windows Search)
  • Right-click on WiFi and select Properties
  • Click to change
  • Go ahead
  • It should display Channel Width selection for 6Ghz (with different options for 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz). You do not need to change any of your preferences.

Other Examples of Laptops

As I mentioned earlier, not all laptops can be customized, but I recently looked at two Acer laptops, and both show the M.2 component for simplicity.

I think ultraportables will be very difficult to upgrade because all the components are placed as tightly as possible.
