How rebel fighters are using 3D-printed arms to fight the Myanmar junta

Nearly a year after the military coup took control of Myanmar, terrorists began seizing new weapons. Pictures posted on social media in early December show them with 3D printed guns, a cheap way to strengthen their equipment and train new fighters.

In the jungles of Myanmar, resistance is growing. Since the military occupation of the country on February 1, 2021, rebel groups have been cracking down on soldiers in bags throughout the country.

The People’s Defense Forces (PDF), a branch of the opposition National Unity Government, has been using every weapon in its arsenal to fight against nationalism.

Some warriors have been sending their images while carrying weapons made using 3D printing presses. Photo posted on Twitter on December 9, 2021 by Jake Hanrahan, a British freelance journalist and founder of independent publishing. Post Screengrab was also shared on Reddit, in a field dedicated to 3D printed materials. Looking at the comments, a user of a social networking site that uses the name DaddyUMCD claims to have posted the image, using a deleted account. He clearly describes himself as a rebel Burmese soldier.

Reddit’s new personal profile contains two more images of 3D print tools. These are also the FCG-9, which is replaced by a longer jar.

“We are developing FGC9 to deal with the aggressive controller,” the user explained in a letter containing a photograph of several 3D printed weapons on December 13th.

One of the great advantages of 3D printing tools is its complexity – if you have a 3D printer. The press can cost 220 euros, plus 88 euros for some equipment and make jars, plus 88 euros for each shot, according to Slate.

Independent journalist Jake Hanrahan created 2020 notes about the man who made the FGC-9, a translator known as JStark, who interviewed him in the film. The man does not disclose who he is, but explains why he created the FGC-9 format and posted it online:

The state, or governing body, has the power to regulate. Police, soldiers – they have guns. In order to escape that injustice, they [citizens] the need for equal strength, on a personal level.

Thanks to the fast and cohesive team of assistants, the design of this 3D tool is widely available on the internet. That’s why I only clicked three times on Google, you can find the FGC-9 version (which stands for “Fuck Gun Control 9mm”) For free.

Our team contacted Jake Hanrahan, who told us about seeing FGC-9 at the hands of Burmese terrorists:

I think it is a very reliable, real implementation of what JStark wants FGC-9 to be. He wanted the people under the control of the dictatorship – which the Myanmar terrorists are undoubtedly in the thick of the military crackdown there – to make such people less likely to fight.

So far, our team has not seen any images posted on the Internet showing Myanmar terrorists using FGC-9 in combat.

Leone Hadavi, an expert in weapons and ammunition Myanmar Witness, “We see a lot of weapons, but there are not many 3D printed guns and no war.”

DaddyUMCD, who is thought to be a Burmese rebel on Reddit, said the same thing, in response to the comments: “Honestly, we did not participate in many activities. This should be used to strike and run missions and get better weapons from the enemy. . ”

According to the website page Myawady, Myanmar government officials arrested another man in 2020 for “terrorism”. He also confiscated the man’s weapons, which included 3D printed guns. The images show six 3D-printed FGC-9 rifles along with their chargers.

‘People’s Defense Force has been coming together to respond to government violence’

In the war videos posted by People’s Defense Force terrorists, the men use very powerful assault rifles (5.56 mm or 7.62 mm), Hadavi said. These are the same weapons that are seen by terrorists when they share photos of seizures obtained during an attack or attack.

Tools captured in the PDF attack, posted on Facebook on December 11, 2021.
