Gibraltar considers introducing lateral flow home testing scheme to control COVID-19 outbreaks

THE Rock is considering a turnaround in COVID’s home trial as GHA seeks to expand its testing.

But the standard will not be set yet and the COVID-19 test will continue to be available through GHA or private hospitals, says Director of Public Health, Helen Carter.

“The positive outbreak in Gibraltar so far has come about as a result of our experimental approach,” he said.

Ensuring that testing is done by well-trained medical professionals with confirmation of the type of test and its results, he added.

It also means that the government will be able to track the number of cases and the number of cases.

Carter praised the population for showing great responsibility, as evidenced by the number of calls to 111 and the large number of attendees in the center of Mid Town.

“Keeping this method, as well as proven methods such as reducing contact, masks and frequent hand washing, are the best ways to prevent the virus,” he said.
